Create your own custom flows along with other apps on Shopify and trigger them any time customers leave a review on your shop or send Opinew’s review request flow through a Shopify flow. Here’s how to do it:

Download the Shopify Flow App on the Shopify App Store:

https://apps.shopify.com/flow

After that, in Opinew’s dashboard go to Integrations and head to the Shopify Flow card:

Then activate it:

Great! Once you do that you can start using Opinew triggers on Shopify Flow. Go to the Shopify Flow app and click on Create Workflow button:

Then click on Select a Trigger and then select Opinew on the right hand side and then select the one you want to use. In this example we will show how to add points on Loyaltylion to reviewers whoi add a photo every time they leave a review on Opinew.

So we select the Customer leaves a review trigger:

Then click on Then on the left and select Condition:

After that select Add criteria:

Then Is photo review and select True:

Once done, select Then on the left, then Action and select Loyaltylion in this case. (You need to have a working app with flows to show actions). Then click on Add points:

Now you can select the amount of points you wan to reward your customers with, write the reason and at the end on the email address we would like to add the email address of the reviewer (this data comes from Opinew) so click on Add a variable.

Finally select Reviewer Email

Great! This simple flow is now completed. You just now need to Turn on the workflow and you’ll be ready to go!

And that’s it. You can customize your flows as you want using the properties from both Left a review and Review Request triggers and automate everything up!

How To Set Up Your Review Request Sequence On Shopify https://www.opinew.com/help-center/knowledge-base/set-up-review-request-sequence-shopify/ https://www.opinew.com/help-center/knowledge-base/set-up-review-request-sequence-shopify/#respond Fri, 29 Oct 2021 09:27:48 +0000 https://www.opinew.com/help-center/?post_type=ht_kb&p=1839 A review request sequence consists of a set of things that are going to happen after a customer makes a purchase attempting to nudge them towards writing a review.

The most widely used channel to request reviews is email. So that’s our focus today, though we’ll briefly go over SMS review requests and printed QR code requests.

By default, review requests have a conversion rate of about 4% —that means that about 4% of customers who got the email did write a review. But if you follow this guide, you can boost this number up to about 10% or maybe even higher.

Read through our step-by-step guide, or watch our video tutorial below to quickly get started and build a Review Request Sequence on Shopify.

Before we go setting up the review request sequence, there’s some prep work we need to get done.

1. Configure DNS Records

DNS records are a way to identify the origin or who is the sender of an email. You want to set your DNS records to show the email as coming from your store, rather than coming from Opinew. This helps your review requests reach your customers’ inbox, as otherwise there’s a high chance they’ll get filtered and end up in the spam or promotions folder.

To set up your DNS records head over to Account, General. That’s the menu on the lower-left corner of the screen.

Scroll down to SPF Widget settings. A little further down it reads “Your domain from which opinew emails are sent”

Now enter your domain on the textbox below and click save.

Once you’ve clicked save, on the section just below the textbox, you’ll get those records generated.

You need to head over to your DNS settings and put those records in. You can hire a freelancer or an agency to help you with this or you can try to do it yourself. We have a few guides on how to do this yourself with Namecheap, Godaddy, and a few other popular providers.

2. Schedule Sending Requests

Now we’re actually setting up the review request sequence. The first thing you need to think about is scheduling when your review requests will be sent.

The trigger is order fulfillment. You need to calculate how long it takes from the moment you fulfill the order to the moment it gets delivered to your customer and add a few days so that the email will be sent two to three days after your customers get their order delivered.

Keep in mind that delivery times can vary, so take this into account when deciding how many days we should wait before sending the review request email.

To configure this click on “Collect Reviews” on the main menu on the right. Then click on Review Request Sequence to open the review request sequence menu.

Right under “STEP 1 ORDER IS PLACED” you’ll find “Email Timing settings”

Click on “Configure” and enter the number of days we should wait before sending the email. Remember, the count starts on order fulfillment. Estimate how long it takes for your product to reach your customers and adjust the number of days accordingly.

2.1 Aftership Integration

Alternatively, you can use our AfterShip integration to make sure your review requests are always sent after your customers’ orders are delivered.

Aftership tracks your product and turns delivery into the trigger for the review request to be sent. So you don’t have to worry about shipping times, you simply set up review requests to be sent two or three days after delivery (it’s customary to wait two to three days).

3. Create / Offer A Coupon

Right under “STEP 2 – REQUEST FOR REVIEW” you’ll find the option to “SET COUPON”

Offering a coupon in exchange for reviews on average doubles your likelihood of getting reviews. So it’s a great way to make your review requests more effective. And it doesn’t even have to be very high, anywhere between 5% and 15% have proven to work. So that’s what we recommend.

Click on “CREATE COUPON” and select the percentage you want to offer.

And now click “Create”.

Your coupon will be featured automatically on your review requests as long as you’ve got coupons available, you don’t need to worry about that. We’ll explain more about that when we talk about conditional merge tags.

4. Customize Your Review Request Email

Customizing your review request email helps you make sure that the message is consistent with your brand’s tone and personality.

It also makes your review requests more effective. Our template isn’t designed to be delivered without going through some degree of customization. It’s a generic message that you need to make your own.

But in customizing it, there are a few things that you need to understand.

4.1 Merge Tags (curly braces or brackets)

Personalizing review requests depends largely on merge tags which is the text you see in between the curly braces or brackets {like_this}

That will be replaced by the information described in between those curly braces. For example, {customer_name} will be replaced by the customer’s name.

So take a look at the merge tags available when you’re customizing your review request email and use them as best you can to personalize your review requests.

4.2 Conditional Merge Tags (double brackets)

Conditional merge tags will only show up if a condition is met. You can identify those with double brackets. For example, [[Get a {coupon_value} coupon for writing your review.]]

The condition that needs to be met is that all merge tags inside have a value. That means that if you’ve got no more coupons available, that won’t show up on your review request. But if you do, it would show up like this:

“Get a 10% coupon for writing your review.”

Assuming of course that the value of your coupon is 10%

4.3 Subject Line & Preview Text

Make your subject line and preview text personal by including merge tags and conditional merge tags in them.

For example, you can use the {customer_name} merge tag on the subject line to personalize the email and use the conditional merge tag on the preview text to let your customers know you’re offering them a coupon in exchange for their review.

Something like this:

Subject line – Hi {customer_name}, can you write a review?

Preview text – [[We’re offering a {coupon_value} coupon for writing a review]]

That will result in a subject line and preview text that looks like this:

Hi David, can you write a review? – We’re offering a 10% coupon for writing a review

This way you let your customers know you’re offering them a coupon even before they open your email.

5. SMS Requests

SMS have a higher open rate than email. So sending review requests via SMS is a great idea if you want to get more reviews for your store.

Click on “Configure” and simply edit the SMS text using merge tags and conditional merge tags just as in the email.

Remember to set the max amount to spend on SMS review requests per month.

6. Printed QR Code Requests

Our integration with order printer apps lets you put a QR code on the packaging slip. That QR code is a review request.

7. Reminder

A review reminder is another review request that will be sent to customers who haven’t left a review x number of days after receiving their first review request.

Set the number of days you want to wait for this reminder to be sent (3 days is the norm).

8. Customize Your Thank You Page

When a customer writes a review, they’re taken to a thank you page. You should customize it and let your customer know that you appreciate them writing a review.

9. The “Add Pictures Or Video” Nudge

The “Photo Reminder” is an email that gets sent to customers who left a review asking them to include a picture or video with their review.

Offering an added incentive is recommended if you want to get picture and video reviews. For example, we recommend a 20% coupon in exchange for a picture or video review.

Add a coupon to your review requests Step 2

This will help you boost your sales as other customers will feel very confident making a purchase from a store that has a genuine picture and video reviews from a verified purchase.

If you have any questions regarding the process of configuring your review requests sequence please contact us on the live support chat. We’re available 7 days a week.

Using Aftership to schedule review requests after delivery https://www.opinew.com/help-center/knowledge-base/using-aftership-to-schedule-orders-after-delivery/ https://www.opinew.com/help-center/knowledge-base/using-aftership-to-schedule-orders-after-delivery/#respond Thu, 17 Dec 2020 14:01:16 +0000 https://www.opinew.com/help-center/?post_type=ht_kb&p=969 If you use Aftership to track your deliveries, you can integrate it with Opinew to schedule review requests to be sent AFTER the order is delivered. Without the integration the requests would be sent after you fulfill the order, so not ideal if your delivery times vary from order to order.

To set up the integration:

  1. Get your aftership API key from https://admin.aftership.com/settings/api-keys

2. Inside Opinew Admin, go to Extra and Integrations > Integrations >Aftership, switch it to enabled, and paste the API key you got from Aftership.

3. Select the number of days to wait after delivery before we should send your customer a review request email or SMS.

3. Click Save and you’re good to go!

Fallback

In case your order is not going through aftership our system will use the default delay settings you set in settings>review requests.

Add DNS records for better email deliverability https://www.opinew.com/help-center/knowledge-base/add-spf-and-dkim-records-for-better-email-deliverability/ https://www.opinew.com/help-center/knowledge-base/add-spf-and-dkim-records-for-better-email-deliverability/#respond Tue, 15 Dec 2020 12:35:22 +0000 https://www.opinew.com/help-center/?post_type=ht_kb&p=947 When you send Opinew emails from your custom email address, you will notice that the email clients add “via Opinew” message to your email address or in some cases block your emails altogether. This is because Opinew is not authorized to send emails from your custom domain. However, if you have access to the DNS records of your domain, then you can add our SPF and DKIM records to authorize Opinew to send emails from your domain and therefore prevent email clients from blocking your emails.

Read through our step-by-step guide, or watch our video tutorial below to quickly get started with adding DNS Records.

Where to find your DNS records

You can find your DNS records in your opinew dashboard under “Account > General”.

Scroll down and you will see your records at the end of the settings page.

Initially, your records will be empty. In order to create new ones, you need to fill in your domain name (e.g. myexampleshop.com) and the subdomain that you want to use for your Opinew emails (we recommend using “reviews”). Once you fill those in, save your changes clicking the ‘Save changes’ button at the end of the page, and your SPF and DKIM records will show up.

Adding SPF/DKIM records to your DNS records

Next, you need to add the Opinew SPF and DKIM records to the DNS records of your domain. This step will differ based on your DNS provider and you may need to consult your DNS provider’s help center to find out how to add new DNS records.

Example 1: Shopify DNS

From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Domains.

  1. In the Shopify-managed domains section, click “Manage” on the domain that you want to set the DNS settings on.
  2. Click DNS Settings.
  3. To add a new record, click Add custom record, select the record type, and then enter and confirm the details.
  4. Add the 3 records that were generated in the Opinew app.

Important! – for Shopify DNS you need to remove your domain name from “Name” field in your DNS records. See more

Example 2: Cloudflare DNS

Navigate to the Cloudflare DNS dashboard and click on the “Add record” button. Fill in the Type, Name and Target fields based on the values in your Opinew dashboard, select Proxy status as “DNS only” and click the “Save” button. You will need to repeat this for each record in your Opinew dashboard.

Example 2: GoDaddy

Visit your Domain Control Center and click on the domain you want to use for this configuration

Inside the domain’s details click the ‘Manage DNS’ to enter the DNS Magement page and click the black ‘Add’ button to start adding DNS records.

Start filling the DNS records provided in the General Settings page from the Opinew Dashboard

How to add records in other DNS providers

Amazon Route 53

Validating your new DNS records

To make sure that you have set up your DNS records correctly, you can validate them inside the Opinew dashboard. Just click the “Validate Records” button under your SPF and DKIM records. Once the records are validated, you can check their status under the rightmost column of the records table.

Once all of your DNS records are valid, your Opinew emails will no longer be blocked or labeled as “via Opinew” by email clients.

WARNING

It can take up to 48 hours before your DNS record changes are visible to the internet.
Therefore, the SPF and DKIM records may be labeled as invalid until then.

Troubleshooting

Records Not Validating

Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Amazon Route 53, and Namecheap, are among providers that automatically add your domain to your new DNS record “Names” so if you add the Name generated in Opinew (e.g. reviews.myshop.com), your provider will add the domain to it one extra time and you will end up with reviews.myshop.com.myshop.com.

SOLUTION:

In your DNS provider, remove the domain from “Name” fields. Eg:

reviews.myshop.com -> reviews
s1._domainkey.myshop.com -> s1._domainkey
s2._domainkey.myshop.com -> s2._domainkey

Do not change the VALUE/TARGET entries. They should still stay the same.

How Review Requests Work https://www.opinew.com/help-center/knowledge-base/how-review-requests-work/ https://www.opinew.com/help-center/knowledge-base/how-review-requests-work/#respond Wed, 03 Jun 2020 02:08:19 +0000 https://www.opinew.com/help-center/?post_type=ht_kb&p=724 Opinew Gives you 3 ways to automatically request reviews from customers that ordered and provide you with a constant stream of verified reviews. (Verified vs Unverified)

The first 2 ways to automatically request reviews are Emails and SMS sent post purchase. The 3rd way to request reviews is via Printed review requests – you can print a QR code and slip it into the packaging.

This is how the workflow looks like when your orders are coming in:

1. Order Fulfilled Review Requests

We schedule review request to be sent as per time delay settings you set. You can choose if you want SMS to be sent in settings. By default we send only email.

2. Review Request Sent

Customer gets an e-mail (and SMS if enabled).

Sending a 2nd reminder email option is available in settings, if customers don’t open the first email request and you want to urge them a bit more.

3. Review Written

Customer writes a review. After completing review for the 1st item in the order, they can keep reviewing or finish.

Customers will also see a coupon offer in the email if they were eligible. You can create coupons and set eligibility criteria in the Coupons menu.

4. Thank You Page Shown

Thank you page appears. You can customize it in templates. If eligible for a coupon we will show your customer the coupon code on that page.

5. Coupon Email Sent

If eligible for a coupon, we additionally send an email with the coupon code. Customizable in templates menu.

SMS Review Requests https://www.opinew.com/help-center/knowledge-base/sms-review-requests/ https://www.opinew.com/help-center/knowledge-base/sms-review-requests/#respond Fri, 17 Jan 2020 17:23:23 +0000 https://www.opinew.com/help-center/?post_type=ht_kb&p=423 Apart from emails, you can also send SMS review requests to your customers. This feature is priced separately from your monthly or annual subscription based on the amount of SMS sent.

SMS review requests are only sent if the customer provided valid phone number. You can also set a limit on the maximum amount that can be spent on SMS per month, after this amount is reached, we won’t send any more SMS until the end of the billing cycle.

Read through our step-by-step guide, or watch our video tutorial below to quickly get started with SMS Review Requests.

Activate SMS Review Requests

To activate this service, go to the Account page in your Opinew dashboard. Here, click the “Enable SMS Review Requests” switch.

SMS review requests cannot be activated for shops with free subscription plan.

After you click this switch, a confirmation popup will open. Wait for the confirmation button to load and then click on it to go to the Shopify billing page.

When you are redirected to the Shopify page, approve the new usage charge by clicking the button in the right bottom corner.

That’s it, SMS review requests are now active and will be sent together with the email review requests.

If you upgrade your subscription plan or switch to annual plan, you will need to reactivate the SMS review requests again.

Change monthly limit for SMS charges

SMS review requests won’t be sent if you already reached your monthly limit. In order to change this limit, go to the Account page in your Opinew dashboard and on the SMS review request card change the “Set max amount to spend on SMS review requests per month” field to your desired value and click “Adjust”.

After you click this button, a confirmation popup will open. Wait for the confirmation button to load and then click on it to go to the Shopify billing page.

On the Shopify page, approve the changes to the usage charge by clicking on the “Approve update” button

The updated SMS charge limit should be visible in the Account page of your Opinew dashboard.

Edit the SMS Review Request template

To access the SMS template editor go to Request > Review Request Configuration in the sidebar in your Opinew dashboard, and then click the SMS option on the right side menu.

Scroll down on the right side and you’ll see the editor. In this editor, you can change the sender name and the content of the SMS. You can also see details on how many SMS parts will be needed in order to send your SMS. To save the template click on the “Save” button at the top.

Try to make your SMS template short, since you will be paying for each SMS part.

Make sure to include the {unsubscribe_link} merge tag, this will give the customer an option to opt-out and it is required to be inside the SMS.

Deactivate SMS Review Requests

To deactivate this service, go to the Account page in your Opinew dashboard. Here, click the “Enable SMS Review Requests” switch.

After you click this button, a confirmation popup will open. Wait for the confirmation button to load and then click on it to go to the Shopify billing page.

How do I use the Opinew Order Printer? https://www.opinew.com/help-center/knowledge-base/order-printer-guide/ https://www.opinew.com/help-center/knowledge-base/order-printer-guide/#respond Thu, 02 Jan 2020 17:18:37 +0000 https://www.opinew.com/help-center/?post_type=ht_kb&p=388 If you are using Order Printer or Order Printer Pro, you can now easily print review request slips and send them with your orders. These slips include short customizable message for the customer and a QR code that lets a customer write a review for their order.

Accessing The Template

To access and copy the printed review request template, go to the Integration menu of your Opinew dashboard and open the Order Printer or Order Printer Pro card.

A popup will appear. At the bottom of the popup copy the template code by clicking the “Copy to Clipboard” button. That’s it, now you can paste the template to your preferred order printer app.

Order Printer Setup

To include the review request slips in your Order Printer templates, go to your Order Printer dashboard and click the “Manage templates” button in the top left corner.

Now, click the “Add template” button in the top right corner of the dashboard.

In the following window, paste your copied template code in the code input field and fill in the name of this new template. Then click the “Save” button in the top right corner.

Now you can include the review request slip in individual orders in the same way as all other templates.

Order Printer Pro Setup

To include the review request slips in your Order Printer Pro templates, go to your Order Printer Pro dashboard and open the “Manage templates” tab in the top of the dashboard.

Here, click the “Create template” button in the top right corner.

A Template setup popup will show up, select the Blank template option and continue.

Replace the code in the “code” input field with your copied template code and fill in the name for the new template. Then, click the “Save” button in the top right corner.

That’s it, you can now include the review request slip for your orders in the same way as any other template.

QR code image doesn’t show up

If the review request QR code for a specific order cannot be loaded, it means that this order is probably from before you installed Opinew and there is no review request created for it (All new orders would have a review request created automatically).

To create review requests for old orders go to Opinew Dashboard > Get Reviews > Review Requests and use the chart on the right. After that, the QR code will show up.

If you have created the review request and the QR code is still not visible, try clearing your browser cache.

Customizing your review request template

The generated review request slip is an image and therefore the customization is somehow limited. If you wish to change the size and positioning of the review request slip you can do so in the order printer template editor.

You can also include the review request template code inside other templates in your order printer app.

To change the text that will be rendered to the left of the QR code, open the ‘Order printer’ card in the Integrations section.

Scroll down and you’ll see an editor, where you can customize your review request message using various tags, similarly to our email editor. When you’re ready, click the ‘Save template’ button.
